Train Enrichment Week

17th July 2026

The first week of July our pupils enjoyed a fantastic train-themed enrichment week filled with creativity, sensory learning and lots of fun. We began by introducing the theme through stories, music and sensory experiences, which helped to engage the children and spark their interest in trains.
Pupils took part in a wide range of activities throughout the week. They designed and made their own class train carriage for The Mill Water Train, colouring it in their class colours.

Pupils also explored different ways of creating trains and tracks through painting, using sponges, paintbrushes, cut-out shapes and vegetables. In playdough activities, they enjoyed making trains with carriages through hands-on play.

Cooking was another highlight of the week, with the children making and decorating train biscuits. There was also plenty of opportunity for imaginative play with different train tracks and train-related toys, along with lots of other activities that supported creativity and shared enjoyment.

A big thank you to the GWR Customer and Community Improvement Fund for realistic train-play resources that were used during the week and to all parents and carers for your support and contributions, which all helped to make the week such a success.

It was a wonderful week, and we were so pleased to see how much the children enjoyed taking part.
