Dear Parents and Carers,

Football Event

Some pupils from Mill Water took part in a Devon FA football event in Newton Abbot this week. The Mill Water group joined in activities with pupils from two other Devon special schools. Before lunch they enjoyed some training sessions organised by coaches from Plymouth Argyle's Football in the Community scheme. After lunch they participated in a couple of matches, winning one and losing one. A great day was had by all.

Headteacher's Award

JW in Helen’ class has done amazingly well and has made huge progress with his reading. He read his Dandelion Readers book cover to cover two days running! Six months ago he struggled to read and remember letters. Now he’s flying through phonics!

Join the PTFA on Wednesday!

Join Mill Water’s PTFA for a friendly meeting on Wednesday 24th May at 10am in school. This is a chance to meet other parents and carers over a coffee and to hear about the fun activities planned that support our school.

The PTFA funds a whole host of things, from art and music workshops to physio equipment. Pictured here is our school physio Janet putting new PTFA-funded tambourines to use with a pupil. Without your support the PTFA would not be able to operate. No job is too small, so whatever capacity you have would be very much appreciated.

If you cannot attend but would like to find out how you could lend a hand with activities, please email Georgia at fundraising@millwaterschool.devon.sch.uk

Mill Water’s Annual Fundraiser: The Bicton 10K!

Do you have availability on the morning of Sunday 2nd July to support Mill Water School's Annual Fundraiser: The Bicton 10k? Come along, bring your families and join in the fun!

There are lots of ways you can give your support, whatever your capacity...

This year it will start and finish at the school (from 9am-11am), with organisers donating money to Mill Water for every volunteer marshal that we provide.

Our PTFA members and families will also support the event with a cake sale for spectators and hungry runners. So it will be a nice chance to meet other families.

And event organisers LMEvents will waive the usual entry fee (£20) for some participants to run the beautiful 10k course and pledge to raise some money for the school. This offer is limited so will be on a 'first come first served' basis.

Please email Georgia at fundraising@millwater.devon.sch.uk to let us know what you could help with, such as marshalling on the morning, donating some cakes for the stall, cheering participants along the route or perhaps getting your running shoes on!

Marshals need to be in place prior to the 9am race start and will finish by 11am.

Thank you!

Seeking a New Volunteer Governor

We are looking for a new volunteer Governor to join our Governing Board.

You don’t need to have any experience in education and people with no connection to the school are also invited to apply.

Looking After Your Wellbeing Online

The online world and digital technology has become such a significant part of our daily lives that we shouldn’t be surprised at the degree of influence it can have. Many experiences that young people have on the internet are hugely positive and uplifting, but sadly that is not always the case. Click on the image below to view the free guide.
