Dear Parents and Carers,

Easter Holiday Club Success

Mill Water's Easter 2023 HAF holiday club was a great success. Dozens of pupils enjoyed physical activities and trying out nutritious food. Siblings also enjoyed being in their brother or sister's school and meeting other siblings. Some of the feedback from parents and carers has included: "Friendly, approachable, amazing, helpful, excellent, lush, professional, engaging, very friendly, a great experience and wonderful."

Special Award

Well done to OB for his amazing work remembering, finding and saying his letters as well as writing the words this week!

Strike Days

Next Thursday 27th April, is the next arranged NEU strike day. This is not a decision that our teachers have taken lightly. Please understand that teachers are striking against the national educational policy and resourcing in schools and not against the children that they work so hard for every day. Some parents/carers have been concerned that their child’s absence will be affected but this is not the case. If their class is closed, they will be coded as a Y (unable to attend due to exceptional circumstances).

Please Drive Safely

Please can all parents and carers transporting children to and from school through Bicton campus drive slowly and adhere to the one-system in place through the Bicton car park. Thank you.

Online Safety

Ofcom’s annual ‘Children and Parents: Media Use and Attitudes’ report provides a comprehensive picture of how young people used and interacted with the internet in the preceding year. It’s a fascinating snapshot of what games and apps young people are currently favouring, how long they spend online and how tastes change at certain ages.

Personal Learning Goals (PLGs)

We are in the process of changing when PLGs are set for pupils, moving towards them being set at the start of each new term by September 2023. You may therefore find that, while we are in the process of change, your child's targets may run for longer/shorter than usual. Please be reassured that teachers are adjusting targets accordingly to make them appropriate for the time period set. Any questions or concerns please contact your class teacher or Grace Norman - PLGs@millwater.devon.sch.uk

School Relationship Education Event

Parents of pupils in Upper KS2 and above are invited to a RSHE (relationship, sex and health education) coffee morning in school. This event will now take place on Friday 5th May, 10-11am. This will be an informal event where parents can find out more about what their child will be learning and can ask questions and raise any concerns they may have.
