19th January 2024

Dear Parents and Carers,

This week has been a week of numerous ‘firsts’ for pupils: such as brushing top teeth independently, joining choir and working out fractions of numbers. One pupil is regularly hand feeding a Robin on his trips out.

School Visits

We are having regular visits from Bales Buddies Therapy dogs. The pupils get a lot out of these visits and we’ve had some real successes in terms of animal care and courage.

We are desperately seeking volunteers to join our PTFA and in particular to hold positions such as secretary treasurer etc. Without these roles we can’t run as a charity and therefore can’t access certain pots of money. As a working mum I understand that time is precious, but even a few hours a month would benefit the school and pupils.

If you think you can give a few hours please contact us

Weather Warnings

There is an amber warning of wind in place from midnight to 9am on Sunday 21st January: currently I have no plans to close Mill Water and hope it stays that way. If (like last time) DCC put out a risk to life warning to Devon employees, I am unable to go against that guidance. Please keep checking the website for any last minute announcements. If transport choose not to travel, that is not a decision I can overturn.

Have a great weekend.

Yours sincerely,
Sarah Pickering
