Newsletter 31st March 2023

31st March 2023

Dear Parents and Carers,

Consultation

Thank you to everyone that has written, emailed, met with and called me to discuss the post 16 closure consultation. The consultation runs to 31st  March so you are still able to send in your opinions. There will then follow a Full Governing Body meeting, to review the responses and the FGB will make a decision (minuted) as to whether or not they proceed to the formal representation period.

There are 2 parts to the consultation. The first is to close the post 16 class and the 2nd is to increase the number of registered places to 112.

Live Music Performance

On Thursday Dave and Jim from the band 'Small Town Jones' visited us at school. They performed a wonderful mix of songs, encouraging the children to provide the lyrics to an Easter themed song at the end. All the pupils really enjoyed the experience with lots of dancing, toe tapping, clapping and singing along. We will definitely be inviting Dave and Jim back for another concert in the future!

Personal Learning Goals (PLGs)

We are in the process of changing when PLGs are set for pupils, moving towards them being set at the start of each new term by September 2023. You may therefore find that, while we are in the process of change, your child's targets may run for longer/shorter than usual. Please be reassured that teachers are adjusting targets accordingly to make them appropriate for the time period set. Any questions or concerns please contact your class teacher or Grace Norman - PLGs@millwater.devon.sch.uk

Parents of pupils in Upper KS2 and above are invited to a RSHE (relationship, sex and health education) coffee morning in school. This event will now take place on Friday 5th May, 10-11am. This will be an informal event where parents can find out more about what their child will be learning and can ask questions and raise any concerns they may have.
