Red Heat Warning

24th June 2026

Dear Parents / Carers

Following the red weather warning currently in place, I want to provide a clear and honest update on our position.

At present, the school will remain open tomorrow. We continue to carefully monitor the situation and will prioritise the safety and wellbeing of all pupils and staff in every decision we make.

I want to be open with you: the temperature within the school building is very high, and this does present significant challenges—particularly given the additional vulnerabilities needs of many of our pupils. We have taken all reasonable steps to reduce temperatures throughout the day, including adapting routines, moving learning spaces where possible, and adjusting staffing to ensure pupils remain safe and well supported.

I am incredibly proud of how our pupils have responded. They have shown tremendous resilience and flexibility, accepting changes to their usual routines with real positivity.

I would also like to recognise our staff team, who have been exceptional. Their commitment, care and determination in what are very difficult conditions have ensured that pupils continue to be supported safely and with compassion.

Thank you to those of you who have taken the time to send messages of support and offer practical help such as fans, spray bottles and ice lollies. Your support is genuinely appreciated and makes a difference.

While we remain open, I want to emphasise that the heat warning remains in place and we are treating this situation with the utmost seriousness. I will continue to be transparent with you about conditions in school.

I will provide a further update at the end of tomorrow. At this stage, the school remains open for the rest of the week, but this will be kept under constant review.

Thank you for your continued understanding and support.

Yours sincerely,

Sarah Pickering
Headteacher
