Welcome
It has been a busy and positive few weeks at Mill Water, and we are pleased to share some of the developments that have been taking place across the school.
Transitions to College
We were delighted to welcome Hannah and Anne-Marie, the Post-16 SEND leads from Exeter College Centre for Progression in Tiverton (formerly known as PETROC), to visit our school. Their visit was an important opportunity for them to observe and begin getting to know the pupils who will be transitioning to college later this year. Understanding individual needs at this early stage is crucial in supporting a smooth and positive transition for our young people. In the summer term, pupils will have the chance to visit the Centre for Progression on three separate occasions. These visits will allow them to gradually become familiar with the new environment and routines at their own pace, with Mill Water staff supporting them throughout each stage of the process. We are confident that this careful, staged approach will help our pupils settle into their next chapter with confidence.
Silver Class Enterprise Project
Silver Class have been busy making beautiful hand-made and hand-painted pots. These have been filled with Easter goodies and we have 21 for sale in the school shop on Arbor, as part of the Silver Class Enterprise Project.
Building Work and Car Parking
The new parking spaces outside the school are now in use and operating well. Thank you to all parents and carers for your patience during the transition period. The awful weather delayed the project significantly but with your support we managed the transport challenges. Work is currently focused on completing the interior of the new outdoor classroom.
Work on the Seaton satellite site is continuing to progress well – the photos below were taken during a recent site visit. We will continue to keep you updated.
Outdoor Parks and Play Areas
The improving weather has provided a welcome opportunity for our pupils to spend more time outdoors, visiting local parks and play areas. These experiences are valuable for our young people and contribute positively to their wellbeing and development. If you are aware of any local parks or outdoor spaces that are secure and suitable for our pupils to visit, please do let us know. We will carry out a thorough risk assessment before any visits take place.
Food Hamper Donations
A huge thank you to Gill & Steve from Budleigh Salterton Lions Club for kindly donating a number of generous food hampers to our families at the school. Our chosen families have been incredibly grateful for your kindness and support.
If you are struggling with food supplies over Easter, or at any other time, please email Gemma, earlyhelp@millwater.devon.sch.uk for confidential support.
Red Nose Day
We would like to take a moment to celebrate our recent Red Nose Day activities. We kept things low-key this year, simply asking pupils to wear something red or something comfortable, and it was wonderful to see the school community come together to support this important cause.
