Dear Parents / Carers
Last week’s extreme weather brought some extra challenges for everyone, but our pupils handled the heat really well. With support from staff, they showed resilience, calmness and flexibility throughout the week. We were so proud of the way they adapted to the warmer conditions.
A Fun-Filled Day at Crealy!
Pink and Purple class had a great trip to Crealy last week. The weather held out and our pupils enjoyed a thrilling day of rides and free play. From the heart-stopping twists of the Maximus rollercoaster to seeing all the animals, there was something for everyone.
A big thank you to the Rotary Club for organizing this fantastic day out every year for SEN schools in our area. We’re also incredibly grateful to Parnell Coaches for kindly providing free transport for our children.
Sailability
A small group of Year 11 pupils thoroughly enjoyed their time on the water with Sailability. It took them a little while to find their sea legs, but they soon felt confident enough to move to the side of the boat and look out over the water. They were treated to lovely weather, and there were smiles and excitement all round.
Book Relief UK
A huge thank you to Book Relief UK for providing a grant to help us add more phonics books to the school library!
PTFA
We are in desperate need of volunteers to help keep Mill Water’s PTFA alive. If you think you might be able to help, please contact Amelia at school by emailing:
fundraising@millwater.devon.sch.uk
The PTFA supports the school by raising funds for resources and equipment that would otherwise be out of reach. It is open to anyone who wants to support the school – parents, carers, aunties, uncles, grandparents, or friends! If you know anyone who might be interested, please do pass this message on. You would have the full support of the school to help make any fundraising ideas a reality.
Without a PTFA there are some quite big pots of money that we just can’t access – things like the Waitrose green tokens, which can bring hundreds or even thousands of pounds into the school.
At this stage we are just looking for people who might be interested – there’s no firm commitment. Please do get in touch if you have any questions.
Year 6 Leavers Vaccination Information
The below information outlines the services and vaccinations the Cornwall & Devon School Age Immunisation Service continues to provide beyond primary school. Families are sometimes unaware that children remain eligible for the annual flu vaccination after leaving primary school, but they also want to raise awareness that the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccine is offered in Year 8, followed by the Diphtheria/Tetanus/Polio (DTP) and Meningococcal ACWY vaccinations in Year 9. These are important immunisations, particularly as many children will not have received any vaccinations since preschool.
