Children in Need Week
Thank you to all the children, parents and carers for your fantastic support for our fundraising events for Children in Need this week. The children have really been involved in planning their sponsored activities and have had lots of fun taking part in bike rides, danceathons, obstacle courses, walks and lots of other activities.
Niki’s class were challenged to go around the lower playground collectively 100 times. She said: “I was so proud of the determination the pupils showed and they really worked hard as a team, cheering each other on.”
We had a good response from the Pudsey coin fill sheets, and it was great to see the classes so involved and competitive in the bake-off competition this afternoon. The winners were Tracy’s class for their Smarties Pudsey cupcakes. More results and photos will follow next week.
Pupils’ Virtual Meeting with MP
Gemma and Niki’s classes had a live virtual debate with East Devon MP Simon Jupp last week. They first learnt about who Simon Jupp was and wrote down questions that they wanted to ask him. Then they joined him for a live Q&A. Some of the brilliant questions were: Will things get cheaper? Can you help with the cost of living? Can you help make shops quieter? Why do children have to go to school? Can you help with my house? What help is there for farmers? Should sweets be free for children under 10?
They also learnt about the restoration of the Elizabeth Tower and Big Ben and they are now taking part in a competition (via the Parliament website) to create their own Elizabeth Tower using lego, duplo and junk modelling.
