RE

The aim of Religious Education at Mill Water is to encourage a respect for different cultures and beliefs, as well as promoting the spiritual, moral and cultural development of the pupils.

The teaching of RE is a legal requirement under the Education Act (1996) which requires that: ‘RE should be taught to all pupils in full-time education in school except for those pupils withdrawn at the request of their parents

At Mill Water this means…

    • RE should develop the pupil’s knowledge, understanding and awareness of Christianity and other religions and their traditions
    • RE promotes a sense of belonging
    • RE encourages pupils to develop an understanding of similarities and differences
    • RE offers opportunities for celebration with others
    • RE supports pupils to prepare for their future
    • RE helps develop a sense of respect, kindness and tolerance towards others
    • RE promotes time for reflection and development

RE is embedded into daily routines and the curriculum through topics and cross curricular links.
