Work Experience

Mill Water’s approach is pupil centred so we endeavour to find a course or work experience placement suited and beneficial to the pupil.

We have excellent links with local schools/colleges and businesses. This enables some of our pupils to take advantage of inclusion and work experience opportunities. Our pupils can access a variety of subjects that will support and enhance their learning here at Mill Water.

Subjects such as Science, Maths, Wood Technology, Construction, Motor Mechanics, Horticulture and Cookery are accessed at local colleges with students being given the chance to join the accreditation route.

Our younger pupils participate in age appropriate groups right across the curriculum at the local primary school. Students have been joining classes in PE, Art, Science, IT and PSHE.

Careers Advice
We work closely with Careers South West. All pupils and parents from year 9 onwards have regular meetings with our Careers Advisor to plan for the future. Some pupils leave Mill Water at 16 to go on to College to study (Bicton College, Petroc, Exeter College). Some pupils opt to stay at Mill Water until they are 19.
