Parent Governor Vacancy 2022

16th June 2022

Will you be a Parent Governor for Mill Water?

You will be joining a team of volunteers who are a core part of school life. The role is often described as 'hands off, eyes on'. The Governing board is there to set the strategic direction for school leaders and to ensure that they carry it through, on time and on budget.

It is a position that comes with responsibility and commitment. The board meets ten times a year. Every new Governor is expected to attend training, and to help with finding your feet you will be paired with an experienced Governor who will act as a mentor. You will be expected to visit the school, to monitor and evaluate progress as your knowledge and experience grow. You will also be invited to attend school events in your capacity as a Governor.

There are no skill-based criteria for the Parent Governor role. Your lived experience of parenting a SEN child is your asset.

Nomination letters will be going out from Monday 20th June. If you want to find out more about becoming a Parent Governor, please do contact the Clerk to Governors via email ClerkGB@millwater.devon.sch.uk or call the school on 01395 568890.
