In Class 2 we have been enjoying getting to know each other as Emma started as our teacher this term. Our topic for the first half term has been ‘Out and About’ and we have used two great stories to base our learning on, ‘Noah the boa at large’ and ‘Mr Gumpy’s Outing’.
The children have created a lovely display using their art work and photos taken when they took our snake out and about around the school putting him in different positions and finding longer and shorter objects. They have also been doing some Mr Gumpy maths and literacy activities. We had a great time re-telling the story in the woods using the stick puppets they had made.
We enjoyed ‘Bat Week ‘ at school too which included a story in the tree house, making bat houses using toast and chocolate spread and and a visit to the Beer Caves to see where real bats live and sleep.
On Wednesday and Thursday afternoons we’re continuing to enjoying spending time with our friends in Class 1. We’ve been practising our sharing and turn-taking skills with classroom, playground and orchard based activities and we’ve found out that it can be fun!
