This term we have welcomed 6 new children into class 1 and welcomed back 2 of our children from last year.
For our topic ‘All about me’ we have explored the children’s favourite toys and activities, this has included playing with remote control cars, balloons and sensory spinning toys. The children have been getting to know each other the class team and the school environment.
For our topic ‘Celebrations’ we focused on fireworks and birthdays. We have had birthday parties in our home corner and played with Spot and his friends in our book corner. The children also dressed up and raised money to celebrate Children in Need. We are now thinking about ice and snow in the lead up to our Christmas celebrations.
The children have also been ‘Out and About’ with visits to the school orchard, the park, the pirate boat, the animal centre at Bicton and most recently to Kings Garden Centre, who have kindly donated a Christmas tree for us to decorate in our home corner.
Music House for Children is supporting Mill Water school’s Early Years classes with weekly music and movement sessions over a period of two terms. The aim is to enhance musical learning, whilst at the same time, assisting with language development, communication, social skills and life-skills learning. Other areas of the curriculum will be woven into musical play, exploration and delivery. This has been funded by a grant from the Norman Family Trust.
What a busy and exciting term we have had!
